Be Happy Now

This year, I've been thinking about how I can better myself, and how I can become a stronger, better person. Over the last few years, well throughout my whole life I have had many trials, they were different of course when I was younger. Most of them I don't like to talk about or even think about. Then, after I had Savannah, I thought why would God give me more trials that are so hard after all that I have been through and after I had over come trials that most people don't have to ever go through. I'm still trying to heal myself from them. I have been working hard on it this year, after putting it all away in the back of my mind for so long. The truth is that Savannah changed my life, she changes everyone's lives who meet her. She is so strong and so precious. She is a big part of the reason Court and I are who we are today. She and Xander helped us see the bigger plan and led us to become an eternal family.

I have come to learn that being given Savannah and Xander and all of their unique challenges , that it is a blessing. They are here to challenge and teach me. Because of them and Court I have been given the opportunity to have a chance for a better life.I have been able to give them what I always wanted. I have learned that I am able to love more than I ever could have and to feel loved back. I have been able to do things that I never would have thought myself capable to do. When I was first married I was so shy that I couldn't even make a call for a doctors appointment. I had to have Court make the call for me. But, I have never been so scared in my life. I worry about them all of the time. I am just always so scared that at any moment I could lose one of them. Maybe that's why I'm so crazy, and over protective. Court and I aren't even letting Xander go to nursery until after his surgery.

Over the last year and a half, after Xander was born, I have been struggling with the worst depression that I have ever had. In the last 6 months, I have been doing so much better. This is because I told myself that I am not going to let myself drown in my trials. I find something to be happy about each day. There are so many other mother's who are struggling with so much more than I. So many of my friends. How can I feel bad for myself. Yes, I have the occasional, sometimes weekly meltdown but, I force myself to look. I look to see my beauitful family. We have the Gospel. I see how blessed I am to have my amazing husband Court, who I will spend my forever with. He is always there for me telling me that I am not the terrible mother I think I am. I have Savannah, Oh how I love it when she smiles or gives me a big hug and a kiss! I love all of the adorable little things she says and how she looks at the world differently! Xander, My sweet crazy little boy who always keeps me so busy. I love his big laugh, and his beauitful brown eyes! I have so many supportive friends and family. They are so loving and who are always there when I just need to cry or vent, which is a lot. So many of my wonderful friends are having babies or are pregnant. This is one of the things that is hard for me to think about but, I feel like I am thinking about it all of the time. I have been working on this over the last year, trying to be happy for pregnant or new mothers with out wanting to cry.I have come to be okay with this. Now I can be happy for them, truly happy and the ache keeps going away a little more. The other day I was watching one of my friends sweet baby boy. Savannah calls him baby cute! She was actually playing and laughing with him. In a way that she never did with Xander. It was adorable!whenever, the feeling of longing for a happy, healthy baby comes I just think about how happy I am of where we are at and how wonderful my children are! I am trying to be happy in the moment and to see and be there with my family.I want to enjoy this year and love being there watching Savannah grow and learn. I want to not just be with them but to see them. There will always be trials and pain, but with my family, and God we can fly right through them! I am so excited for this year and for what I will learn and what we will do. I can't wait to cherish all of the memories that we will make!

I have always love this poem, I'm sure everyone has read it but, it really speaks to me!

One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints,
other times there were one set of footprints.

This bothered me because I noticed
that during the low periods of my life,
when I was suffering from
anguish, sorrow or defeat,
I could see only one set of footprints.

So I said to the Lord,
"You promised me Lord,
that if I followed you,
you would walk with me always.
But I have noticed that during
the most trying periods of my life
there have only been one
set of footprints in the sand.
Why, when I needed you most,
you have not been there for me?"

The Lord replied,
"The times when you have
seen only one set of footprints,
is when I carried you."

At the Relief Society General Conference last year , President Dieter F. Uchtdorf gave the most unforgettable talk about a parable of the Forget-me-not flower. It was just beauitful. I really needed to hear this. I was really struggling with discouragement and feeling lost and helpless. He reminds us that All of us are struggling with something.

Forget Not...

1. to be PATIENT and Compassionate with yourself.

2.the difference between a GOOD SACRIFICE and a foolish sacrifice.

3. to be HAPPY NOW, you don’t have to wait for a “Golden Ticket”.

4. the “WHY” of the GOSPEL will inspire and uplift you.

5. your HEAVENLY FATHER KNOWS, LOVES and CHERISHES you!

I wrote down these 5 "forget me not petals" so, that when I am discouraged and feeling down and alone I can read them and remember the forget me not.

Plane Ride to Kansas City Missouri

The 21st we left to go on our trip to Missouri for Christmas. I can't believe how much luggage it takes for two adults and two kids! Lol!3 suit cases, 2 carry on suit cases, a back pack, my purse, Savannah's back pack, and 2 car seats.People were probably looking at us like we were crazy. LOL!

We got on the plane then, over the speaker they announced that there was a white out in Denver CO that morning and we were to go back and wait 2 hours until we would leave. Savannah was not happy with the change in plans.
We made due and colored, changed diapers, (poor Savannah had soaked through), read books, and looked out at the air planes...
Savannah and Court took a little nap.
And, Xander being Xander couldn't hold still.
He found himself a seat! Then, an hour and a half later we boarded the plane, Savannah having a little meltdown because she wanted to go home in the car. When we arrived in Denver CO, we found that we had missed our plane to Kansas City. It had left an hour and a half before. We waited in a very long line for another hour and a half to find another flight there.Poor Savannah and Xander were hungry and of course weren't about to stand still in a line.Savannah even laid down on the floor. I know people were giving us weird looks but the line wasn't moving and, I was just so glad that she wasn't having a meltdown that I wasn't going to make her stand up and risk a tantrum. After struggling with Xander I was exhausted! When we got up to the front they told us that they could put us on stand by for two days later, Christmas Eve night. We almost just tried to find a flight home but, at the last moment they found two cancellations on another flight later that day. We were so lucky!

We got lunch and the kids watched a movie. Xander was awful on the plane but, as soon as it took off as if it were a que to him, he fell right to sleep.Savannah did so good!We arrived in Kansas City 6 hours later than planned but, we made it! Savannah was so excited to get into a car! This is a picture of Kansas City. It is an awful picture but, I took it with our small camera and out of the window of the air plane. At least that's what I am going to blame it on.

Christensen Family Christmas Party 2011

For the Christensen Family Christmas party, we go bowling each year. This year Savannah loved it!
She had to have the yellow ball of course!
Xander wasn't too happy.
Afterward, everyone brought yummy treats and, we had dinner. Later, Santa came!Savannah was still not feeling so great, but when she heard Santa call out her name she walked right up to sit on his lap! It was so cute! She was so excited!
Xander wasn't so sure about it.
Savannah fell asleep on a coach. She was so tired and she started burning up again.
So cute!!!
