Savannah had her ultrasound and the VCUG test done yesterday morning. She does not have reflux!!! But, it was probally the most traumatizing day of her life. Savannah did not want to change into the gown they had for her. She did not want to lay on the table under the X ray machine. They had to do a catheter for the test. She was screaming the whole time. I had the I pad trying to distract her with Blues Clues, and another nurse trying to help me. Three nurses spent forever trying to get the cathiter in. I told them that she has had 2 surgeries on her uterus. They said that her anatomy is completely different. I looked down and there was blood. Poor Savannah was screaming I just about lost it too. I just kept holding her hands and, telling her that" it's ok," and, "they're almost done." It was so awful. They had to have the doctor come in and help. They finally got it. Then Savannah wouldn't go. I guess she was just so scared that she was holding it. They tried a lot of stuff to get her to go. The doctor had to come back in to help. She did eventually go. Savannah cried and screamed until they were done and, she had her yellow princess dress and her yellow princess boots on. She got a princess necklace for being so brave, and she was so glad to leave. It was the most awful experience ever! I hope she has forgotten about it because I've never seen her so scared. Next time she has to have a catheter I will make sure she is out. I don't ever want her to have to relive that again! I'm so glad it's over!
Savannah is doing really good and went back to school today! She does get tired after a bit, and zones out a lot. It is weird. She is not quite herself yet.She is only eating a meal or two a day. Over all she is very happy! I love my brave little Savannah!
I am so sorry to hear of this Nicole. Unfortunately, not all nurses or doctors are created equal and the majority of them need more common sense and brains...ones that really get it. I have learned the hard way that you have to take a firm stand for yourself and your kids when dealing with stuff like this. Did you see my post on Facebook of Brave Girls Club recently. You definitely are in it. I think that you would really like it if you don't know of this site already. Best, Aunt Terri
