Xander's Surgery

Save Now
I know it has taken me a long time to post how Xander's kidney surgery went on my blog. It was last Thursday. I've been posting pictures and updates on facebook from my phone just because it was fast and easy but the truth is that I am just now getting on the computer.Sorry!! His surgery went very well! It took 3 hours for them to do everything.

This is Xander in his cute little outfit right before his surgery getting into trouble just like always!
Throwing a tantrum on the floor. He was pretty tired.
This was after his surgery. He was having a little bit of trouble keeping his oxygen up for a bit, but after a little bit of help he did great!

Everything went great! He is doing really good. He's just been extra whinny and has lost his appetite some, which is weird for him.He also had his circumcision while he was under. Yesterday, we noticed that it was swelling and looked infected. It is a little scary looking. It really grosses me out!Court hates to change Xander's diaper. He says it hurts him too much to even look at it. LOL! We called Urology yesterday and they said to take him in to have his doctor look at it, so I did today and much to my embarrassment, I guess it usually looks like that. Yes, there I was again, feeling like the idiot crazy mom, but, his doctor is so nice, he didn't treat me like that at all! But I feel so embarrassed, AGAIN!
We did find out some more about Xander's heart. His masses haven't grown!!! They also found that an artery that is supposed to go down and pumps blood into one side of the heart, on Xander's it splits and pumps into both sides. I hope I am explaining it right. It is fine and shouldn't effect him. They will just keep watching him, like they are. I like the way that his pediatrician put it. It's just funky! My kids are just funky! LOL!But, he is doing so good! I am so thankful for all of the wonderful and kind doctors and nurses who took care of him.We feel so blessed. Thank you everyone for all of your sweet and caring comments, love, and prayers for him and our family. It means so much to us to have so many family and friends who love and care for him and us. Thank you with all our hearts.

Xander's Kidney Surgery Tomorrow

Tomorrow morning at 6 Xander is having his surgery on his Kidneys, (VUR). That means that we have to get up a t 4 tomorrow! And, I thought 4:30 was early! My mother-in-law is going to watch Savannah for us tomorrow so that we won't have to worry about her and she can go to school. She loves spending time with Grandma love!

I have been feeling so many emotions about it this week.
One of the biggest ones is that I am afraid, afraid of all of the unspeakable things that could happen to him. In fact, as it draws closer I am becoming terrified!I've tried not to think about it too much because I just knew that this would happen. Now, I'm just crying and I feel stupid for crying, because I know that he has to be okay. It's so hard to stop thinking about it.I just have to be brave and hold it together for him.

I am very hopeful that he will be fine after this surgery. He is a very strong and determined little boy!I am so grateful that God intrusted him to us.I know that we are always telling him that he is lucky that he is cute, whenever he gets into trouble( which is a lot! )But, the truth is that we love him unconditionally. He teaches us Patience and brings us joy in this crazy world!I love that I can see how much he loves his sister, and that he has no fear, well except for sleeping in his bed and that his mommy would leave him for any period of time. LOL! I love that he is a mommy's boy and I love it when he blows me kisses! He has such a sweet spirit! Even when he is angry he is adorable!

Well, I'll probably post some pictures tomorrow on Facebook and my blog. Thank you so much all of my family and friends for your kind thoughts and prayers!

Xander's Surgery

These are the last pictures of Xander's special little unique foot and hand before his surgery. We got up early Monday at 3:50 AM, after Xander having 4 ounces of Pedelite at 2 and then nothing else. We left a little before 4AM.
At the last few minutes I started to have second thoughts on him having his surgery. I started thinking these are a part of him. We're having a part of Xander removed, and it will be painful for him. But, I decided not to say anything.

Getting Xander dressed in his adorable little scrubs.
The socks din not want to stay on his feet at all. His feet just aren't made for socks or shoes, neither are Savannah's.
Xander was so tired, he fell asleep.
It was hard watching them take Xander away for his surgery, but I was so proud of myself, that I didn't cry. The surgery was a little over an hour.
Xander did really well. His hand was a little bit trickery than his foot, because there was bone that T'd to the extra finger. We had to say in the recovery room for almost four hours, because Xander needed to be on oxygen because it kept going down below 90. At one point it was a 75. Thant was kinda scary. He had to keep his Oxygen stats up for at least 30 minutes on room oxygen to go home.

Xander slept almost all day Monday. Now he's back to his normal self.
Xander has been very naughty and crawling and standing up all over the place. His badges look awful and he's only had them for three days. He eats and crawls and does everything with his hand and foot.I'm so scared that he is going to brake his stitches. The surgeon said that they can't stitch it back if he does. It will just leave a big scar. Xander is doing really well, maybe a little too well. No break for me. He's a tough little boy!

Xander's Ear Tubes Surgery 02/10/2011

This morning Court was so sick he wasn't able to go with us for Xander's ear tubes surgery. He felt really bad about it and really wanted to be there for him and me, but he looked just awful.

Xander actually slept through the night last night, on the coach, but I just don't know what to do anymore. He fell asleep and we didn't want to wake him, so we just put pillows under the coach.

Xander was so tired. He slep most of the 30 minutes in the waiting room. We were called back, and he had to put on his cute little oversize blue teddy shirt. Savannah has two! LOL. The hardest thing for me is when they carry them away out of the room. I watched the top of Xander's head as the anesthesiologist walked out down the room and through the doors, as my heart dropped, and I held back the tears through watery eyes.

In one of the private waiting rooms, the same one Savannah had after her second tubes, adenoids, and tonsils surgery, I waited for about 15 minutes. Then, I heard Xander's cry down the hall. He did really good, they said. He was very tired, hungry, and fussy. I missed my little boy so much in that short amout of time. I love my sweet little boy.

03/21/2011

This morning I waited for an hour and a half in the waitiing room to take Xander to see the plastic surgon. Court even met me there, but after an hour he had to leave for a meeting for one of his classes. He really wanted to be there. When the doctor came in he said the same thing that all doctors say when they first meet Savannah or Xander. I've never heard of Bardet-Bieldl syndrome. Then he tries to pernounce it. No one can just by reading it. It took me a while before I got it right. He looked at Xander's hand and foot. I found out something new about Xander today. His pinkey on his right hand is curved. I never noticed. We scudled his Surgery to remove his polydactyly on March 21st. I was hoping it would be sooner, so we can just get his first surgery over with, but he's booked until then. Now, I have to figure out what if I'm going to be brave enough to handle to take Savannah with me when I get his x-rays done today.
