Happy Fourth of July!

Savannah's morning after camping hair! I love it!!!
I made cupcakes!
Court did smoke bombs with the kids!

Savannah loved it!
Crokay!

Around 8 Xander went to sleep, which was actually a nap.
Bubbles!
Lots of Fireworks!

Rain and fireworks! I think the 4th of July is Savannah's favorite holiday! I've never seen her so happy and excited! Xander wasn't sure or them. It was a great Fourth of July!

1st of July

Friday night we went to watch fireworks with some friends and my mother-in-law! Savannah just had to wear her princess skirt and have her princess wand. But, that's just Savannah!
The kids had so much fun throwing snaps and playing with a ball!

Xander found the snacks!

Savannah loved the fireworks or what she calls "colors" or "stars!" She was so excited! She just thought it was the greatest thing ever!

Fourth of July Cupcakles

1 white cake mix(make according to box)
1 box vanilla pudding
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 teaspoons almond extract
red chocolate melting chips(put in freezer to set faster)
About 1 1/2 cups of each color. I had to put about 15 red drops maybe to get it it be this red.

Butter cream Icing (Wilton) I added two tablespoons of light carol syrup!

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup solid vegetable shortening
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine softened
  • 1 teaspoon clear vanilla extract
  • 4 cups sifted confectioners' sugar (approximately 1 lb.)
  • 2 tablespoons milk

Makes:

About 3 cups of icing.

Instructions:

Step 1

In large bowl, cream shortening and butter with electric mixer. Add vanilla. Gradually add sugar, one cup at a time, beating well on medium speed. Scrape sides and bottom of bowl often. When all sugar has been mixed in, icing will appear dry. Add milk and beat at medium speed until light and fluffy. Keep bowl covered with a damp cloth until ready to use.

Step 2

For best results, keep icing bowl in refrigerator when not in use. Refrigerated in an airtight container, this icing can be stored 2 weeks. Rewhip before using.

Step 3

For thin (spreading) consistency icing, add 2 tablespoons light corn syrup, water or milk.

Step 4

For Pure White Icing (stiff consistency), omit butter; substitute an additional 1/2 cup shortening for butter and add 1/2 teaspoon No-Color Butter Flavor. Add up to 4 tablespoons light corn syrup, water or milk to thin for icing cakes.

Fourth of July Skirt and Flower

The other day I decided that Savannah needed a fourth of July skirt and, I haven't made her any clothes in a month so, I found some scraps and with no pattern or anything I just winged it! It actually turned out!!!
I got her out of her pirate costume and to try it on for a bit.

I love this picture!
And this one!!!

Savannah trying to stand on one foot! It's so cute!
I cut 4X4 inch squares and sewed them together. MAke sue you iron after each step!
I hemmed one side, sewed 2 stitches (4 length),
Pull and gather carefully the top 2 threads until gathered as much as you want.
Pin and sew to a white piece of fabric( 11 inches in length and I just warped it around Savannah to figure out the wight.

Fold top over leaving a gap for the elastic, and sew.
Sew the ruffle down after you have ironed the seam flap so it will stay down.
To measure how much elastic you will need just wrap it tightly around their waist.

To make the flowers I just used different length strips of fabric and gathered them just like the ruffle, then sewed the middle.
